Good deals, Chun-Li, and action figures. GamerC's rant 2/28/2005

My, today was another great day for me. I bought myself 007: Everything ot Nothing for the PS2 today for $16.67 total price. That was great deal for me especially since I always wanted to get the game and I'm a big 007 fan. Then I went to Wal-Mart and saw an abundance of DC super heroes and Marvel Legends action figures for sale so I put them on lay-away. But the biggest deal I saw was at Sam's Club which had Smallville season 2 on sale for $23.00!!! I couldn't past up the young Super-Man for that price. Good deals will always come around but some of them shouldn't be passed up. Seriously, if you see something for a price you don't mind paying for and have the money, go ahead and get it.

I've been playing a lot of X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Street Fighter (Geez, those names are long.) and I can say for a fact that Chun-Li has been kicking my butt far more than any other character. I'm no master at the VS series games, heck, I can't even do one infinite combo with anyone (Sad, I know.) but I consider myself fairly skilled so I'm surprised how well the A.I. can be for these games. I gotta learn how to play Chun-Li better.

The fighter's edge

If theres one particular game genre I can buy without hestitation, it would be fighting games. I'm a big fan of fighting games. I remember the days of playing Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat on my Snes and just had sheer fun playing by myself or against other people. But theres always been a part of me that one of the reasons why I play fighting games is to improve my skills so I can own the cheap computer or tournment gathering. I seriously think that fighting games are the most Competitive games on the market, beating out that of Sports, racing and DDR. I know the purpose of fighting games is to fight against each other but it seems that some people care all about competition and being the best instead of having fun. But then again, not all fighting games are about the fighting.

But thats not my topic for today. I'll save that discussion for later. What I'm getting at today is about buying and collecting fighting games. I've bought myself a Japanese Sega Saturn lately so I can play both X-men vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. In my opinion, it was worth the trouble of getting the system because both of them are excellent fighting games that I'm glad to get ahold of. Now that have all the VS series in my hand, I now want to get a Neo Geo system so I can some great games such Samurai Showdown 2, KOF series, Fatal Fury, and the Aero Wing games. Have I've been beaten buy the fighter game bug or do want to expand my game collection more? Well if your looking for some older games and don't know where to look, try giving these guys a look.

Lara's hot new makeover.

Meet Karima Adebibe, Edios newest Lara Croft model for the Tomb Raider series. Karima,20, is a model from London and is without a doubt, extremely hot!!! Good job Edios for the fine pick.

Although Karima is beatiful, her looks alone will not be enough for Edios. The companey is sending the model to SAS survival, combat, gun camp and will be taught the arts of archaeology and etiquette. Wow! She'll literally be a walking, real life Lara Croft! Sounds excellent to GamerC ears. Good luck to you Karima. check http://break.com and http://ign.com for pictures and info on Karima Adebibe and Tomb Raider: Legend, due out April 11 for the Xbox, PS2, and PC.

Mo Money, Mo Money!!

$uper Playstation 3

The PS3 certainly wants to be an all one entertainment device. According to an article in Business Week today, the PS3 will shipped with a large internal hard drive that can be used to store pictures, music, and TV shows (Think of it as Tivo 2.0.) I for one am excited about the PS3 and like all the features the system is including but is it really necessary to have all this high-tech equipment? Having all the latest technology crammed in one console doesn’t make it system seller, just look how well the PSX did in Japan and how well the PSP is doing right now. That handheld is being crushed by the Nintendo DS and yet the DS is technological inferior to the PSP. With that knowledge, do gamers care about the latest graphics card and media player in a console or how good the games are? My money is on the second choice but don’t judge the system yet. We still don’t know how much the console will cost and when it will launch. So keep those fingers cross for an affordable console without a premium or core version (I’m looking at you MS.)

3 flavors for the DS Lite

Nintendo’s handhelds are like Apple’s iPods- a newer, better version comes out every 2-4 months and people seem to buy/collect all of them. Nintendo’s Japanese website show the DS console in the original white color, Ice Blue, and Enamel Navy. The DS Lite will be available in Japan on March 2 and hopefully sometime soon in North American.
