MI3 and X-men out the way.

My summer movie watching has been going pretty well. Aside from the comfortable seats and cool air condition (Beats the hot sun) I've thoroughly enjoyed both Mission: Impossible 3 and X-men: The Last Stand. Although I'm sure some of you have read or heard the critic reviews, or your friends opinion's on the films, I thought I offer my take on both flicks too.

MI3 was a lot better than I'd expected. I was surprise to not be disappointed by this movie such as I was with MI2. Although it is still an action movie, I consider it a smart action movie with grand action scenes (Such as the super cool bridge battle sequence) but no taking things over the edge such as the last mission (John Woo style.) The storyline was good but I wished they would tell you what the rabbit's foot is? The movie hypes it up so much that it makes you think it's the ultimate weapon. The acting is very well done. Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt is still stellar but I give props to notable performances of Ving Rhames and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Both guys are a joy to watch in the movie.

Overall, I think the movie is great but I'm a little shocked that it hasn't done so well. Has Mr. Cruise personal life done anything to affect ticket sells? Maybe but it could also be that this movie is just a mixture of the last two installments. Hmmm....Ah heck! I'm still getting this on DVD.

Review wise, X-men 3 receive some good critic reviews but has been trashed by comic fans. Most of the X-men fans I've talked to have nothing but criticism for this movie. Since I'm not an avid X-men comic reader, my opinion may not have much weight but I thought the movie was pretty good. It explains the Phoenix saga (Something that has always confused me) in simple, non complicated form. The movie moved at a faster pace and offer a bit more action than the last two installments. I do have some gripes though. I wished the movie was about 20-30 minutes longer. I think that would have helped with the storyline more because some times the flick feels a bit rushed. Second, unlike the last two installments, the movie doesn't focus on the story very much but on the action and main characters Logan and Storm. I kinda was hoping for a balanced storyline with action and more emphasis on other mutants, such as my personal favorites, Iceman, Rogue, Kitty Pride, and Juggernaut. While I can go on things I wished the movie had, I liked it regardless. I want to see again but preferably on DVD.

Live Action Mario!! (and this time it's good).

This is one of the coolest live action game reactions I've ever seen. A group of students at Gordon College acted out a level of the original Super Mario Bros. I give high props to everyone that did this and so does the audience. Old school gaming forever!!! (Click on video to play.)

Time to get digital.

One expenisve item on my wishlist is a digital camara. Actually, I already have a digital camara but it's not all that great (For $10 bucks, it has more than well serve it's purpose.) So I'm now begining the search for something nice but I don't know what type to get. So many different brands and so many different features, I'm confused to which one to buy (But I wouldn't mind getting this brand.)

If anyone has any suggestions, please comment because I'm lost.

Ultimate Setup: Me likey.

IGN Gear has a feature series called Ultimate Setup. Gamers around the world showcase their customize gaming rigs and boy, are they great!! I'm a big fan of this because I love seeing the setups of other gamers (And get jealous of what I don't have darn it!!) I've been thinking about it awhile now and I've decided to enter my setup to see if it would be accepted (Either way, I'll showcase it here in the future.) Before entering, I'm going to update my gaming rig a bit before submission but I want to do a before and after look on my site first. Once a I get a few things(Such as cleaning my room and the like) I'll post it and then send it to Gerry Block, IGN's gear editor, for a hopeful admission. Until then, check out this week of http://gear.ign.com/articles/709/709292p1.html for some cool looking pads.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Continuing the smashing success.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl has already made huge impact in the game community. Since it's surprise showing at E3, the game has become one of the most talked about games on the net, and it doesn't come until next year. What has me gawking the most (Along with most gamers) is that Solid Snake is in the game!!

Nintendo is pulling all the stops with this game. Solid Snake, Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Pit, and Metaknight will be joining the cast and according to Nintendo, there are more coming, possibly even more third party characters. Who else wouldn't mind seeing Ryu, Leon, Viewtiful Joe, Sonic, Akira, or others duking it out? I personally see this game being the next Marvel vs Capcom of 2d fighting games. Nintendo knows they have a system seller on their hands.

Another thing I have to note on Smash Bros. Brawl (And some Wii games in general) is how great the games look. It's amazing how much of an improvement this game looks compared to Melee. I'll be the first to make claim that this game looks as well as some Xbox 360 and PS3 games (Now I wait for the Sony and MS fanboys to call me stoopid.) Folks, here is reason #1 to buy a Nintendo Wii (This or Metroid Prime 3.)

November and 2007 just got even better!!

Summer wishlist part 1.

We all have a wishlist of things we want. Since it's Summer, I thought I share what I like to get this mid season.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns

I'm a big fan of Batman but I don't read a lot of his comic book adventures. That all changed last year when I read my sister's copy of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. I love this book and I'm very eager to get my hands on this novel.

The book is about Bruce Wayne retiring as Batman after the death of Jason Todd. Skip over to ten years, Gotham City is in shambles, Gordon is retiring as police chief, Superman is a tool for the government, and the Joker is actually a souless puppet (Because Batman is no more.) Bruce Wayne, now in his fifties, decides to return once more as Batman to finally rid gotten of it's future demise. There is much more to the story (So much that I don't want ruin it for anyone that hasn't read it) but I will say one thing: Batman owns Superman!!

Batman: Hush saga

I've heard a lot good things about the Hush saga. The plot seems to be about a mysterious new bad guy named Hush, who has enlisted the help of the Rogue Gallery(Some of Batman's greatest foes.) The highlights of the series (And the reasons why I want it) include Batman fighting against Superman (Again), Finding out who Hush is, and how in the world did Jason Todd come back to life?

Sota Street Fighter action figures series 1-4.

The Sota Street Fighter toys are excellent. I love the detail and articulation of each figure has and I'm on the hunt to get my hands on all of them. There is a slight problem, the figures are not really sold in my area (Only a few stores get them for limit availability) which means I'm resulted to buying online and fighting dozens of other toy fanatics. Series one, the picture above, is the rarest off the bunch due it's out of print. Prices can fetch up to $70+ for the whole collection but Ryu, the rarest of them all, can alone fetch up to $50+, and sometimes that is out of the box. Series two (below) is somewhat rare but not as bad as series one.

Series three, which includes Guile and Sakura, is still widespread available (Good thing because I need another Sakura and Barlog figure. Both of them broke.)

Series four above just came out and already getting a lot attention. I'd better act quick.

What are you guys looking forward too?

The DS is old. It needs a "slimmer" look.

The Nintendo DS is making a change this summer. The original, bulky DS will be replaced by the Nintendo DS lite this summer, just into for the new Super Mario Bros. game for the system.

The DS lite is already a hit in Japan and I see no reason why it won't be popular here too. Since this puppy is coming out very soon, I think I'll spend my cash on this version since it'll be brighter and smaller than the original DS. How the heck does Nintendo make their handhelds so cool? Here's a thought: Have GOOD games. Take note of this Sony.

Casino Royale trailer.

The teaser trailer for Casino Royale is on the web. You can check it out here.

From the look of things in the trailer, it seems we have a stellar Bond movie on our hands but I have to admit that Daniel Craig doesn't look like a Bond figure. Although, he may play the part well, so I'm still holding my judgement until I see the flick, which is out November 17.

E3 2006: Halo 3 trailer

MS made a lot gamers happy by showing off a trailer for the upcoming Halo 3 for the Xbox 360. The trailer is really cool and is already making Halo fans around the globe crying in happiness. There isn't a doubt in my mind that this game won't sell a gazillion copies. (Click on video to play.)

As seen on Break.com

I'll admit that was a bit disappointed with the storyline and single player missions of Halo 2 but the mulitplayer modes made up for all that. While this game will be on my watch radar, I just hope for a clearer plot this time instead of the killer plant for Little shop of Horrors twist.

Classic Wii controller and Wii light gun revealed.

PlanetGameCube has revealed the controller that will be used to play classic games on Nintendo's Wii virtual console (Click on the link above to see it.) All I have to say is WOW!! It looks great and I bet it feels comfortable too. I'm impress with it and I hope it will be compatiable to play with GameCube games too. It'll bring my Soul Caliber 2 skill to whole a new level.

IGN.com has revealed the light gun controller for the Wii console. Check it out here

*Crosses fingers* please Namco and Sega, release your light gun games on the Wii console. Then again, a new duck hunt is just as great too. I wonder are they going to call this gun the Zapper 2? Maybe this time we can shoot the darn dog.

E3 2006: The PS3 finally comes out.

(Pictures courtesy of GamePro.com)

I'd almost forgot that E3 is this week!! For those without the know, E3 is one of the biggest gaming expo's of the year (Rival only by the Tokyo Game Show.) A majority of game companies gather together to show off their latest games, consoles, and anything else game related. Closed to the public (Us regular gamers that don't work in the media field), E3 is a gamer's paradise that happens every year. This year is very big because the PS3 and Nintendo Wii will make their debut with playable game demos (Alright!!) Also, the Xbox 360, handheld systems, and PC will be showing off their much anticipated games coming out this year too. Sony had their press conference today and finally answer the questions on most gamer's mind: The price and date of the PlayStation 3.

The PlayStation 3 is doing a Xbox 360 maneuver and releasing the console in two packages. The 20 GB hard drive version will cost $499.99 while the 60 GB hard drive version will cost $599.99 (The hard drive is included.) I won't deny the fact that the system is pricey but the system isn't coming out until November 17 so us gamers have plenty of time to save up some cash. Another bit of good news is that Sony confirmed about 2 million PS3's will be ready to ship this November so hopefully a shortage won't occur (Maybe not do to it's higher price tag than the 360 or Wii.)

There is a bit of news that is both good and bad (Bad if you're a die-hard Nintendo fan that dislikes Sony.) Sony revealed the new PS3 controller and it's design just like the PS2 Dual Shock controller (Accept it's wireless.) This is great news for gamers that hated the vampire teeth controller but Sony has added a new feature. Motion sensors are inside the controller that will react to your hand movement, just like Nintendo's newest controller. Who didn't see this coming? Honestly, not me but I'm not too shock to see another company cashing on a potential hit. This is sure to cause a ruckus among the game forums around the net because, truthfully, Sony is copying Nintendo's idea but this is not unusual for companies to do (Dirty but not unusual.) I do remember Nintendo being the first to release a rumble pack and a analog stick to their controllers, only to be copy (And become the standard) for other game companies controllers. Honestly, I'm thrilled about the PS3 even with the high price and no announcement of launch games (I'd expect to here something soon about that.) What are your thoughts about the PS3?

Nintendo and MircoSoft are having their press conferences tomorrow. Nintendo's will be at 9:30am PDT and MS is having theirs at 12:00am PDT. Can't wait to see what they announce.

C's $20 bucks list vol.1

(Images courtesy from EBgames.com)

Want a new game but don't want to pay the $50 dollar price tag? If you're like me, then you love the Greatest hits, Player's choice, and Platinum hits games for $20 bucks. You'll be surprise to see what games are on the list. Lately, two games I wouldn't mind getting are...

God of War (Playstation 2)

It seems everyone loves this game. This game has been herald as one of the greatest action games and PS2 games. Since its a measly $20 bucks, I'd plan on picking it up to see all it's goodness. As of right now, Capcom's Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 3 are on the top of my action list but I'm intrigue to see how great this game is.

King of Fighters: Neowave (Xbox)

I really don't play SNK games but I want to give them a try now. KOF: Neowave is only $20 bucks and if I buy it from ebgames.com, I'll get a free Fatal Fury too. As a fighting fan, I'm interested to get this.

James Blond

Yeah I know, such an ORIGINAL topic name. I should write for Leno (Oh Snap!)http://IGN.com has posted new pics of Daniel Craig as the new Bond. Images are courtesy from IGN.

As a Bond fan, I'm excited to see what they have in store. The movie, Casino Royale, is being directed by Martin Campbell who, in my opinion, directed one of the best Bond movies ever, GoldenEye (Although I heard The Legend of Zorro wasn't that great.) A lot of Bond fans are still upset about Daniel Craig being the newest Bond. I'm holding my judgement until I see the movie but if anyone would like to see this man in action then check out Layer Cake. The parts I saw of the movie (And Mr. Craig) were really good so I'm remaining optimistic. What are your thoughts?

I've never heard of this game but I have heard about typing games that resemble DDR. The name of this game is Quasar and the master gamer is Arch0wl (Sorry but I don't know how to put the / through the 0.) This gamer reflexes are phenomenal, just flat out impressive. Typing may not be interesting to watch but I bet you'll think differently after watching this clip.

Mission: Impossible 3.

(Pictures courtesy of Yahoo.com)

Unless you been living in a cave for the past few weeks (No offense to anyone that does) You already know that Mission: Impossible 3 hits theaters tommorrow (Or tonight if you're catching the advance showing.) It is, without a doubt in my mind, going to be a big Summer blockbuster, the first for the season. The movie has a lot going for it, huge action squences (The battle on the bridge scene looks tight), a romance story, dirty bad guys, and a Tom Cruise that doesn't seems "neurotic" (I hope that is the right term.)

I plan on seeing the flick this weekend but I was curious to what the story was about. Thank goodness for Yahoo.com, below is a summary of the flick.

"Super-spy Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has retired from active duty to train new IMF agents. But he is called back into action to confront the toughest villain he's ever faced - Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman), an arms dealer with no remorse or conscience. Hunt assembles his team - his old friend Luther Strickell (Ving Rhames), transportation expert Declan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), background operative Zhen (Maggie Q), and new recruit Lindsey (Keri Russell) - to travel the globe pursuing Davian and rescue Hunt's love, Julia (Michelle Monaghan)."

At least I understand this plot better than the first Mission: Impossible but it's the action thats going to make this flick huge. Check out these clips at yahoo.com. My personal favorite is "Get out of the truck" clip.

IGN.com has their review for MI3. You can check it out here
