24 Things You Need to Know About The PlayStation 3
For those of us that will be buying a PlayStation 3 this holiday season (good luck), check out this extensive article from GamePro.com. It features great advice about PS3 functions and what to expect from it when the console releases in 23 days (Yep, 23 days and counting folks).

MTV True Life - I'm a Gamer.
One of my favorite shows on MTV, True Life did a documentary about the life of die hard video game players. Included in this piece is Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, world Pac-Man champion Billy Mitchell, a Golden Tee expert, and a bunch of buddies that play games sun up till sun down. It's amazing to see the dedication that these gamers have, for I barely make time for any of my games today :(

Plastic Action: Spider-man Origins.
(Images courtesy of Hasbro.com)
Hasbro is releasing a new line of Spider-Man action figures this fall. Without a doubt I'm getting these babies once they come out.
The Spider-Man Origins toys were revealed at the San Diego Comic Con earlier this year (I just heard of the action figures a few days ago). Hasbro will be releasing a variety of Spider-Man products but the two that have caught my attention are the signature series and battle packs.
The signature series will include 8" premium action figures clothe in cloth a costume. Highly articulate and detailed, you'll be able to recreate your favorite Spider-Man poses with these figures (and I know there is a lot them). The fist wave of figures will include Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Spider-Man, and Symbiotic (black costume) Spidey. The date for these figures is around late November/December. Many toy sites are taking pre-orders right now.
The Spider-Man Origins battle packs will include two action figures. The first series will compose of movie Spider-Man going against both Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, and classic Spidey against Venom. Okay, the action figures look similar to the original movie toys and Marvel Legends series, but I'm still going to buy them anyway. Why? It's freaking Spider-Man that's why!
Look out for the new Spider-man Origins line this holiday and early next year. I'm going to have a web head Christmas this year.

Still Can't Find a Xbox 360?
How hard is it to find a Xbox 360 in stores today? Where I live the console is very common to attain. The days of shortages seem obsolete (although it may arise again due to upcoming holiday season). The reason I'm asking this is I'm wondering who would pay $3,050.00 for a $300-$400 console that you can buy online or at your local GameStop?
Maybe the console isn't as easy to find as I think. Or maybe this is a joke bid? Whatever the reason, that's a lot cash to be spending on a console that is becoming more available each passing day. Then again, check out the Nintendo Wii eBay auctions. Expensive bids only for pre-order tickets!

Sonic the Hedehog 2 Long Version.
Have you ever seen screenshots of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and wonder "where did that stage come from? I don't remember seeing that level in the game?" Most likely you've seen images such as the one below in gaming magazines.
However, that stage (which is titled Hidden Palace Zone) didn't appear in the final game. No one knows exactly why the developers dropped the stages (probably to make Sonic 2 shorter since the game is quite long) but a group of dedicated Sonic fans found the missing stages and restored them in their version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Check out the folks at Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Long Version (click on the banner). These dedicated Sonic purists have developed an emulated version of Sonic 2 with all the hidden stages in it. You can download the game from their site however you'll need an emulator to play it (wgens200 should do the job perfectly).
The quality behind their work is just astounding. It surely matches that of the Sega development team and the lost stages fit in smoothly with the original ones (although the first hidden stage, Wood Zone, doesn't appear until the sixth level). Check out the video below of Genocide City, a dark setting for a Sonic game.
Playing Sonic 2 Long Version makes me realize that this is the game that should have came out years ago. Job well done Sonic Research team. Looking forward to version 2.0.

Nintendo Wii Peripherals.
(Images Courtesy of GamePro.com)
Nintendo released some images of their upcoming Wii peripherals last week. Check out the images of the component cables (yay!) and the SD 512mb memory card.

I wonder if the SD memory card will allow us to save our games on to our PC?

The Sun: Nintendo Wii's Mortal Enemy.
OMBRENOIR17, a forum member at Nintendo NSider is claiming that the Nintendo Wii controllers can be affected by natural sunlight. You can read about OMBRENOIR17 impressions here.
Nintendo confirmed earlier that halogen lighting can mess up the Wii controller but hasn't officially announce about this claim yet.
Honestly, this isn't a big deal to me since I have window binds in my room. Put up some shades and problem solved.

Casino Royale Trailer.
Daniel Craig may not look like the traditional Bond we're use to but there's no denying it, Casino Royale looks stellar.
Without a doubt I'm seeing this film next month. My love for the Bond series would forbid me not to.

South Park World of WarCraft Episode.
The tenth season of South Park premiered last Wednesday and I must say it's one of the funniest episodes I've seen yet. WOW fans, you'll appreciate (or hate) this episode even more. Stan, Cartman, Kyle, and Kenny become addicts to WOW, as they level up to defeat a player that is going around killing other players without reason.

Master Gamer Volume 19: Super Mario 64.
David Gibbons at speeddemosarchive.org sits proudly among the masters of Mario games. This man beats Super Mario 64 with 70 stars (the minimal requirement) in 79:04.
"This is a traditional speed run of Super Mario 64. I collected the bare minimum of stars required to beat the game - 70 - WITHOUT ridiculous glitches that involve warping through doors. I use a variety of tricks and routes not used or known by the casual player to earn the world record"-David Gibbons.
Truly impressive. Truly, truly impressive work.

Master Gamer Volume 18: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Wowza!! This gamer (whose name is not given on YouTube) beats Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Genesis in over 30 minutes. For those of you that never this played this game, Sonic 2 is long game (even longer if they kept all the hidden stages). While Sonic 3 stages are much bigger and more complex than Sonic 2, that game comes with a save point, forcing you not to beat the whole game in one day.
Accordding to some folks YouTube, the new record now is 24:23. I'll have to see that video later.

100% The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past Four Swords.
I'm kicking off a new feature of 100% completed video games. Unlike my Master Gamers videos these will showcase full to near full completion of a game. Jonathan739 from YouTube.com will be kicking things off for me with his excellent video of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past Four Swords for the GameBoy Advance. If you ever wanted to know where all the heart pieces were or needed help getting past a certain dungeon, do yourself the favor by checking out his videos.

A New Month, Some New Updates.
What's up everybody? How is everyone doing? I'm hoping your responses will be something good.
Once again, I apologize for the lack of updates and not responding to your blogs or comments here. It's not that I don't care (because that isn't true) but I'm just constantly busy with college work. Everyday seems like another research paper is due and now my midterms are slithering up on me. Although I'm not complaining (because I'm loving college and the college ladies:) it takes away a lot of my free time, thus leaving this blog not up to par. Things will be back to normal as some of my classes end early this month (a large grin appears on my face every time I say that).
One thing I've been working on lately is adding banners to the right side of my blog. I'm "Borrowing" this idea from my good friend The Elderly Gamer. I'll have all my old links (plus some new ones) up soon. If anyone wants to me to add their site to mine's and haves a banner they want me to represent, email me or comment below.
