Master Gamer #21: Super Street Fighter 2 (Snes Version).

W.S. (aka. Saturn) is a Street Fighter's worse nightmare: A Ken player who could own you perfectly! This video of him beating Super Street Fighter 2 on the hardest difficulty, without taking in damage, is just mind blowing.

Christmas with Nights.

Happy Christmas Eve to everyone! I found this excellent game play clip of Christmas Nights on YouTube and thought this would be a great thing to show, especially since it's the day before Santa's arrival :D

Yep, I'm definitely getting this when I see it on eBay again. It puts me in the Christmas gaming mood every time I see it in action :D

Friday=Wiiday.

Tomorrow may be my last chance to score a Nintendo Wii before Christmas. According to this Toys 'R' Us news release, another shipment of Wii's is due out in their stores this week. However, according to Wii Seeker (the same folks who stated that the Wii's would be available last weekend, and they were) is reporting that Toys 'R' Us started selling their Wii's today and may not have any tomorrow. This would hinder my plans a lot because I'm getting up at 5:00 a.m to start my Wii hunt tomorrow and TRU was my first stop. The word is that other major stores may be selling as well (my local K-Mart received another shipment this week but sold that mourning).

I may try searching online again but even if someone starts to sell them, the console won't arrive in time for Christmas. Then again, that's better than not finding one :(

The odds seem against me. I didn't expect the console to be this tough to find! But I'm glad people are showing interest to it. Nintendo marketed the system well and it's paying off. Everyone who owns a Wii have nothing but good things to say about it. I like to be one those people too (especially with Zelda and Excite Truck).

It suppose to rain and possibly storm tonight. I wonder how many dedicated people are camping out under this conditions? Well, I'll find out tomorrow if my luck has change or not.

Career Strategies?

A fellow forum member from GamePro, Jetfire, created his own blog asking for advice on how to make into the field of graphic design and professional writing. A questionable and nice guy, I'm shouting his blog to anyone that can offer him any suggestions that may help him out (keep in mind he's only fourteen so his money may be limited). Here is his first blog post asking for what he is looking for.

"Can anyone gimme suggestions on how to get started in the careers of writing, and graphic design. I'm really into animation so I figured I would get started on newgrounds making flashes....As for the writing I'm kinda the idea guy, so I guess that will come in handy in the future. The point in this is to seek advice from people that have gone through or are experiencing something relating to this. I just turned 14, so keep that in mind, as my options are somewhat limited. So, that's it, I'll just bide my time till I get a reply...later"

Costume GET!

A great blog I've been checking out for awhile. Wataru Maruyama posts about different costumes that can be unlocked in various games. He makes me want to complete a game numerous of times to unlock some of the costumes he's featured (especially the DOA and Rumble Roses games).

New Lara Croft Images (now in British attire).

Major kudos to the Hollywoodtuna.com for providing these shots. Karima Adebibe once again looks stunning as the new spokes model for the Croft series (which seems to be gaining it's good reputation back).

Just What Are the Features of the Nintendo Wii?

This is a subject I've been hearing a lot lately. People want to know just how powerful the Nintendo Wii is and what it can do. So I went by EBgames.com and got a hefty description of what the Nintendo's latest console can do (Sadly, I can't find the specs for console anywhere).

Design

Featuring a compact design that makes it a natural addition to any television setup, the Wii console is white in color and can be displayed either vertically or horizontally.

Size

About 8.5 inches long, 6 inches wide and less than 2 inches thick (roughly the size of 3 DVD cases stacked on top of each other).

Network

The Wii console communicates wirelessly with the Internet via IEEE 802.11 or a USB 2.0 LAN adaptor. Wii also can connect wirelessly with Nintendo DS.

GameCube Compatibility

The Wii is backward-compatible to all Nintendo GameCube games and includes four ports for controllers and two slots for memory cards.

CPU/GPU

PowerPC CPU (code-named “Broadway”), made with a 90nm SOI CMOS process, jointly developed with and manufactured by IBM; GPU developed with ATI.

Media

A single self-loading media bay plays single- or double-layered 12-cm optical discs for the Wii console, as well as 8-cm Nintendo GameCube discs.

Input/Output

Input: four Wii Remote controllers can communicate with Wii, which features a bay for an SD memory card.

Output: an AV Multi-output port for component, composite or S-video

WiiConnect24

The Wii console can communicate with the Internet even when the power is turned off. The WiiConnect24 service delivers a new surprise or game update, even if the system is idle. Users can connect wirelessly using IEEE 802.11 or a USB 2.0 LAN adaptor.

All that for a $250 price tag. Now wonder why this console is hard to find in my region!

Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 Kasumi Pole Dance.

I was debating if I should post this or not but I can't help it. Kasumi is my favorite DOA girl :D

The video and title explains it all really. I hope my Elder comrade doesn't have a heart attack when seeing this.

Virtua Fighter 5 Wallpaper.

The Eldery Gamer posted some fantastic looking Virtua Fighter 5 wallpaper a week ago, and I must say, thank you! These babies look sweet!

From top to bottom is Akira Yuki, Aoi Umenokoji, and Sarah Bryant. You can get more VF5 wallpaper at the official Japanese site. Just to note, Akira and Aoi are 1280x960 and Sarah is 1024x768.

The Difference Between 20GB - 60GB PS3 Models.

I was checking out the PlayStation 3 bundle orders on EBgames.com when I noticed they had up a comparison list of the 20GB model versus the 60GB model. To be honest, I already knew the difference between the two were minimum (unlike the core Xbox 360 to the premium), but I didn't think both versions were this similar.

20 GB Version

CPU - Cell Broadband Engine™
GPU - RSX "Reality Synthesizer"
Memory - 256MB XDR Main RAM 256MB GDDR3 VRAM
HDD - 2.5" Serial ATA (20GB)

Communication - Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T)
Bluetooth 2.0 (EDR)
Wireless Controller Bluetooth (up to 7)
AV Output - Sreen Size: 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

Analog: AV MULTI OUT x 1
Digital audio: DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) x 1
Blu-ray/DVD/CD DRIVE "read only"
Dimensions - Approximately 325mm (W) x 98mm (H) x 274mm (D)
Weight - Approximately 5 kg

60GB Version

CPU - Cell Broadband Engine™
GPU - RSX "Reality Synthesizer"
Memory - 256MB XDR Main RAM 256MB GDDR3 VRAM
HDD - 2.5" Serial ATA (60GB)
I/O - USB 2.0 x 4
MemoryStick/SD/CompactFlash Slots
Communication - Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T)
IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi
Bluetooth 2.0 (EDR)
Wireless Controller Bluetooth (up to 7)
AV Output - Sreen Size: 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p
HDMI: HDMI out - (x1 / HDMI)
Analog: AV MULTI OUT x 1
Digital audio: DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) x 1
Blu-ray/DVD/CD DRIVE "read only"
Dimensions - Approximately 325mm (W) x 98mm (H) x 274mm (D)
Weight - Approximately 5 kg

*The specs highlighted in red are the differences.

Unless you want Wi-Fi, the ability to upload content from your PC on to your PS3, and a larger HD, both versions of the consoles are exactly alike (even including a wireless controller). The only reason I'll pick up the 60GB version is for the larger hard drive, but I wouldn't pass up on the 20GB model if it was the only one left available.

GamerC Searches For a PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii

I said to myself that I was going to wait until next year to score myself a PS3 and Nintendo Wii but my mind has quickly changed; Now I want them both as soon as possible! Whether its the fact I haven't played the Nintendo Wii, or Virtua Fighter 5 comes out in spring on the PS3, or I've seen dozen of advertisements of each system that have elevated my interests even more; GamerC has decided to end his wait and take part in the adventure of scoring a PS3 and Nintendo Wii this holiday and New Year's.

The word on the street is that tomorrow (or today in some cities and countries) will be the day that all major stores will start selling PS3 and Wii consoles and accessories again. There isn't any conformation if this is true or not but most stores I've called this week have told me that another shipment was due before Christmas. Supposedly, this is the last batch until after Christmas, so anyone who wants the Wii version of Zelda under their tree (and the system to play it) better make haste as the console sells very quickly. Yesterday, Wal-Mart.com had PS3 and Wii bundles in stock but sold out within a few hours. I tried to get my hands on a PS3 (the Wii's were actually gone in minutes) but failed to do so. SamsClub.com had some consoles as well but, similar to Wal-Mart, went empty within minutes.

To be honest, I expected the PS3 to be a hard item to obtain but I never expected the Wii to be a chore to find as well. I remember walking into the store on the GameCube's launch and was able to get the system, accessories, and games I wanted without a hassle. I wish it was the easy with the Wii but I'm not worry, for I'll eventually get one. This console shows that Nintendo truly has hot a item on their hands. I'm glad to see people are enjoying it...Well, the people who aren't damaging their equipment or hurting themselves LOL :D

A part of me was seriously thinking about camping out so I definitely could get my hands on both of them. The reason I'm not doing that is, as I stated before, there isn't any definite word that any store will have the consoles for sale. I don't want to wait in the cold all night just to find out BestBuy doesn't have any. I'll take my chances calling and visiting each store until I'm lucky enough to obtain one. Heck, I saw a 20GB PS3 at my Wal-Mart two weeks ago for sale. I couldn't believe my eyes that it was sitting there waiting to be purchase (which some lady did very quickly).

As much as I want both consoles, I surely don't need them right now. I have a ton of GameCube, Xbox, and PS2 games that need playing and beating. I should work on those before switching to the next generation. However, my gaming instincts are telling me that if I see the consoles to go ahead and buy them because quite frankly, I'm going to do so eventually. Why wait when it see it now?

Anyone else bearing the battle of owning a Wii/PS3?

Halo 3 Trailer.

In case you haven't seen it yet, here is the trailer of Halo 3 that played on Monday Night Football back on Decemeber 4th of this month.

Indeed, I'll be there to finish the fight in 2007 :D

GamePro Exclusive Game Feature: Crysis

Sweet mother of pearl! I'll be upgrading my PC next year to play this gorgeous looking brute. The development team Crytek (from Far Cry fame) are making what seems to be an early contender for game of the year in 2007.

GamePro Crysis Preview

Imagine Close Encounters of the Third Kind versus Saving Private Ryan and you'll have an understanding of what Crysis is about. A mysterious, alien race plan to turn our planet into an ice cube in order to thrive. Of course, we can't let that happen (especially since we can't negotiate with them). So be prepared to start war with ET's cousins.

The game has caught a lot attention, mainly for it's superb graphics. It definitely reassure gamers that the PC still has the graphical edge over the PS3 and Xbox 360 (but those aren't wimps though). However, don't expect this game in anytime see on those consoles.

"Much of Crysis's magic stems from its ultra-advanced game engine. Dubbed "CryEngine 2," its rendering technology has been improved in virtually every way. "Shadows are now soft, dynamic terrain has support for voxel technology to offer real 3d carving, and physics does support real-time breaking of vegetations, soft-deformations, advanced vehicles and an improved human physics simulation." It may all sound like tech jargon, but adding support for elements like voxel technology is no simple feat, certainly nothing a console system can handle...at least, not in the near future. And that's why it's doubtful we'll see Crysis on the Xbox 360 or PS3 anytime soon." -Mr.Marbles, GamePro editor

A release date hasn't been given yet but 2007 isn't that far off.

Final Fantasty III Video Review.

Another reason to buy a Nintendo DS now

Final Fantasy III Video Review

I'm stoked to see the DS pull off those impressive game cinemas. I seriously believe magical elves (or gnomes) live inside Nintendo handhelds to make good-looking visuals. Thank you Square-Enix for importing all the Final Fantasy games stateside.

The Mario Ice Capades.

Wow! That is all I can say after watching this "classic" Nintendo promotion. Since the holiday season is upon us, I thought it would be nice to show off this live action Mario adventure...Yeah, this is one Christmas gift that you'll be returning quickly.

Thanks to taipion on YouTube for the description

"On Thursday, December 7, 1989, ABC presented an Ice Capades special on TV, hosted by Alyssa Milano (of Who's The Boss fame) and Jason Bateman (Silver Spoons; Valerie, now on Arrested Development).

This is the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life!!"

Roses Tenkoku Tenshi: A Rumble Roses Fan Site.

Oooh la-la, I found this interesting Rumble Roses fan site a few days ago and I must say, me likey a lot!

Roses Tenkoku Tenshi

Alright, the site hasn't been updated since April but it haves enough material for fans of the series. You can check out game play movies, screen shots, custom made wallpaper, and a forum to discuss about the lovely ladies. My favorite section of the site is "The Girls," where you can see all the women in their various clothing and read personal info about them.

Without a doubt, Rumble Roses has become my new guilty pleasure :D

Devil May Cry 4 Demo GamePlay.

Capcom is definitely making a good reason to shell out $600 for a PlayStation 3 with Devil May Cry 4. The original games on the PlayStation 2 became instant hits with fast pace action, high difficult, and giving us a badass, smart mouth hero Dante. There isn't a doubt in my mind that DMC4 will turn out less than stellar...Well, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed after watching what happen to Devil May Cry 2.

Devil May Cry 4 gameplay footage

The storyline to DMC4 is Dante has seem to gone wicked, wiping out a platoon of Sparda's knights.A new, young cynical knight name Nero (who you'll play as) must discover why Dante has turn his back on mankind? To read the full background summary of DMC4 and see the trailer from the Tokyo Game Show, click here.

The gameplay to DMC4 looks the same, which is great because it means it'll be as addictive as before. Nero seems to a lot in common with Dante, having similar attacks like him. But the young warrior has his own maneuvers that will make him unique as well. Nero has a new feat called Devil Bringer, which causes him to do high hitting combos to his foes (I'm guessing Ninja Gaiden style). No release date has been set for DMC4 but don't fret, it's coming out and it's already looking great!
